The Railway Museum is located in Omiya, Saitama prefecture. It opened on 14th October 2007, “The Train’s Day”. This museum is built as the main exhibit of the 20th anniversary projects. Take the 7 minutes trip in the sky for 2,400m from the Tanigawa-dake ropeway station (with parking lot) to Tenjindaira. ② Rikiya Kanko Kisen: Try Tarai Bune (Tub Boat) ride

Tarai Bune, a traditional special “tub boat”, was contrived to help skippers move along the Ogi Kaigan (Ogi reef). Nowadays they still fish sea weeds, abalones and turbos in a reef where the waterway is narrow and rocky. In the beginning they used a washtub for this purpose and kept improving, until they arrived at the style that they use today.

Isonegi is the name of the fishing style with a Tarai Bune, and you can have the experience of a Tarai Bune ride at the Ogi Port and Yajima / Kyojima area.

1. Oykot

Iiyama Line runs through calm and rural landscapes. Oykot is a local train line which is symbolic of the “home of Japanese people's hearts”. This trains is meant to serve all people visiting here with calm and peaceful time.
We hope you can have image of landscapes of countryside with rivers and mountains from this train. That’s why we named this Line as OYKOT, reverse of the name of Tokyo, showing OYKOT is a complete contrast to Tokyo, the big city.

2. Resort Yamadori

3. Kirakira Uetsu

Kirakira Uetsu is a 4-car train. The 1st and 4th cars have observation areas with powerful panoramic sceneries along the Japan Sea line. The 2nd car is designed as a lounge car and has a Chaya kiosk and lounge spaces.
Kirakira Uetsu is opearated between Niigata Station, Uetsu Line and Skata Station, Yamagata Prefecture, during holydays.

4. Koshino Shu*Kura

The main concept of “Koshino Shu*Kura” is Sake, as Niigata is the kingdom of locally brewed sake.

• SL Minakami:
There are many Onsen spots along Joetsu Line which SL Minakami runs through. Also you can enjoy beautiful nature and natural healing as you enjoy the view of Suwakyo (Suwa Gorge) and Tanigawadake (Mount Tanigawa).
• SL Usui:
Yokokawa Station, the terminal station at the end of Shin'etsu Main Line is the place for you to enjoy train history and culture. Megane Bashi (a historical arch bridge for early trains) is 15 minutes by a taxi and Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park (admission fee is to be applied) is a 3 minute walk from the station
